About the Opportunity

Join Latinas Represent as a Research Intern and play a crucial role in advancing Latina representation in politics! We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive intern to assist in managing our Latina Candidates Tracker, assisting with data management and research synthesis. This remote internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our mission-driven organization and make a tangible impact on promoting diversity and inclusion in the political arena.

Key Responsibilities

The Research Intern will report directly to its Executive Director and be responsible for:

  1. Update and Maintain the Latina Candidates Tracker: Regularly updated database containing comprehensive information on Latina candidates running for political office, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data entries in the tracker.
  2. Data Entry: Perform accurate and timely data entry tasks, including inputting research data, survey responses, and other relevant information into designated databases or spreadsheets.
  3. Resource Compilation: Compile and organize research materials, reports, and resources relevant to Latina leadership, representation, and empowerment. Create fact sheets and other reference materials to support staff, volunteers, and program participants.
  4. Writing: Craft engaging and informative blog posts based on existing research, current events, and topics relevant to Latinas Represent’s mission and initiatives.
  5. Policy Monitoring: Monitor local, state, and national legislative and policy developments that impact Latinas. Summarize key findings and implications for Latinas Represent’s advocacy efforts and programmatic initiatives.
  6. Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director, other team members, and external partners as needed.
  7. Additional Support: Provide ad hoc support to other team members as needed, ensuring smooth operations and collaborative success across all initiatives.
Qualifications

● Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant undergraduate program (e.g., Political Science, Sociology, Public Policy).
Proven experience conducting research, including data analysis and qualitative research methods.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and accessible.
● 
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
● 
Demonstrated commitment to racial, reproductive, environmental, and gender justice;
● 
An affinity for working with a culturally and politically diverse community;
● 
Passion for advancing the representation and leadership of Latinas in politics and civic engagement.
● 
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
● 
Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.

About the Opportunity

Become a Programs Intern at Latinas Represent and play a pivotal role in empowering Latinas to seek out public service opportunities. In this position, you’ll support the planning, coordinating, and executing our programs, events, and workshops to foster leadership skills and promote community engagement. You’ll have the chance to engage directly with program participants, provide logistical support, and contribute to outreach efforts to recruit new participants. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in program management, event coordination, and community outreach while making a meaningful impact in advancing the representation of Latinas in public service.

Key Responsibilities

The Programs Intern will report directly to its Executive Director and be responsible for:

  1. Program Support: Assist in the planning, coordinating, and executing Latinas Represent’s programs, events, and workshops aimed at training and supporting Latina public service leaders.
  2. Participant Engagement: Communicate with program participants to provide logistical support, gather feedback, and ensure a positive experience throughout their engagement with Latinas Represent.
  3. Research and Resource Development: Conduct research on relevant topics, resources, and best practices to enhance the effectiveness and impact of our programs. Assist in developing program materials, including presentations, handouts, and training modules.
  4. Fundraising Assistance: Support fundraising efforts by researching potential donors, sponsors, and grant opportunities. Prepare donor outreach materials. 
  5. Data Management: Help maintain accurate records of program attendance, participant demographics, donor interactions, and fundraising activities. Assist in data entry, analysis, and reporting to track progress and measure impact.
  6. Outreach and Promotion: Support outreach efforts to recruit participants for upcoming programs and events. Assist in developing promotional materials, social media posts, and email campaigns to raise awareness and generate interest in Latinas Represent’s programs and fundraising initiatives.
  7. Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director and other team members to ensure seamless coordination and communication across programs and fundraising activities. Collaborate with external partners, volunteers, and stakeholders as needed.
  8. Event Logistics: Assist in logistical planning and coordination for program-related events, including webinar setup, creation of written materials, organization of speaker information, and other logistics as needed. Provide live support during events to ensure smooth execution.
  9. Additional Support: Provide ad hoc support to other team members as needed, ensuring smooth operations and collaborative success across all initiatives.
Qualifications 

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant undergraduate or graduate program (e.g., Women’s Studies, Political Science, Nonprofit Management).
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in Google Workspace and Zoom.

In this role, you’ll create engaging content for our website, social media channels, and newsletters, showcasing the stories and impact of Latina leaders and activists. You will collaborate closely with our team to develop multimedia assets that resonate with our audience. This internship offers a unique opportunity to hone your storytelling and communication skills while making a tangible impact in advancing gender equity and representation.

Key Responsibilities

The Communications Intern will report directly to its Executive Director and be responsible for:

  1. Content Creation: Develop compelling written and visual content for Latinas Represent’s website, social media channels, newsletters, and other communication materials.
  2. Storytelling: Identify and highlight stories of Latina leaders, activists, and change-makers within the Latinx community. Conduct interviews and write feature articles to share these stories with our audience.
  3. Communications Data Support: Perform accurate and timely data entry tasks, including updating contacts information on MailChimp, updating the Electeds Map on WordPress, and other relevant information into designated databases or spreadsheets.
  4. Campaign Support: Contribute to the development and execution of communication campaigns aimed at promoting programs, events, and fundraising initiatives.
  5. Graphic Design: Support the team in creating visually appealing graphics, infographics, and other multimedia assets to accompany content.
  6. Research and Analysis: Conduct research on communication best practices, audience demographics, and trends in the Latina community to inform communication strategies.
  7. Event Coverage: Help cover Latinas Represent’s events through live tweeting, photography, and post-event summaries.
  8. Additional Support: Provide ad hoc support to other team members as needed, ensuring smooth operations and collaborative success across all initiatives.
Qualifications 

● Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant undergraduate or graduate program (e.g., Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing)
● Strong writing skills with the ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling narratives.
● Proficiency in Google Workspace, WordPress, MailChimp, and social media scheduling tools (i.e. Later).
● Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Canva or similar software.
● Familiarity with social media platforms, including X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
● Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and amplifying underrepresented voices.
